Perfume update

I should label this post "Scent, or lack thereof".

There have been very few posts about perfume lately. I miss them, too.

The lack of entries about scent are not because I'm distracted by politics or anything else. It's because I have had few new scents to write about.

I had been furiously swapping fragrances with folks on MUA. Besides trying new scents, I met some wonderful people. Lately, noone wants to swap, at least with me. I have even better things to swap than I've ever had, so I don't get it. Do I have cooties?

Image note: These are computer generated cooties. If you are of a scientific mind, please go to this link and then explain what the heck they're writing about to me. I don't get it.

I hear you. I noticed the swapping goes thru dry spells often. It's nothing for weeks and months, then you get a flurry of swaps happening. You gotta wait it out, that's all.
What are you after, anyway?

If those "cooties" are cellular automata, you might try reading Steven Levy's "Artificial Life: The Quest for a New Creation" (1992). He does good explication for the intelligent layperson.

I am sending off a package today for some expected delights - Ginestet Botrytis and bunch of other interesting things - Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Amouage, Mitsouko. . .we'll see!

Nika, you mention scents I've never heard of quite often. I need to google just how many scents are on the market. The number must be staggering!

Sorry fro inciting your perfume lust:) There are a lot of scents out there, for sure. I'd say we're looking at tens of thousands, if you include the ones that were discontinued but are still available on the market. I gave up counting a long time ago.

Eventhough I sample up to a dozen or so new things every month, I just got around to DK Black Cashmere today. I don't know what took me so long...it's gorgeous:woody, spicy, very present and robust. It has a goodly dose of saffron which is the main attraction for me. I dont know if I could maintain my enthusiasm for it if I had a bottle or even a decant, but right now Black Cashmere is rocking my world:)
I used up the whole sample in one day, oy!

You're right on the money, LB. Cellular automata indeed.

And Black Cashmere has a strong saffron note? Hmmm. There's a store in Maine where one can get DK scents at a major discount. I was in there once, but the store was so heavy with that department store "perfume" smell I had to leave in a hurry.
